Hey, look! It’s Doop!
Based on a photo of a Bowen statue.
In celebration of my aunt’s 60th birthday, friends and family put together a little book for her. This was my contribution. It’s also one of the fastest illustrations I ever made—make that the fastest—on account of some very short notice I was given. I credit my wife for the concept behind the drawing.

Based this on a 1960s Jack Kirby drawing inked by Joe Sinnott. I supposed I should mention Silver Surfer is copyright and TM Marvel Comics.

It’s based on an old Captain Midnight comic book from 1947. I redrew it, adding all the Christmas references. The original art is about 11″ x 16.5″.
Latlely I’ve been looking at dozens of books on drawing manga. I’ve purchased 3 so far! The best of one is called Draw Your Own Manga: All the Basics (click). Read through the 6-page online excerpt (click) You won’t be sorry ^__^ It has a squirrel
Yep, another robot head. Gotta love it!
Update: Obviously there are some serious gaps in my comic book knowledge. This is based on the character “Machine Man” by Jack Kirby.
